With 546 exhibitors, including 162 first-timers, the companies showcasing products represent a 13 percent increase from 2010, setting an EXPO record. The NCA, the show organizer, says registration numbers for the three-day event are also outpacing the 2010 record. “We continue to evolve the event to offer more value to the industry, including our keynote sessions that offer insights and ideas in today’s marketplace,” says Larry Graham, NCA president. This morning in the Skyline Ballroom on Level 3, business strategies and consumer buying trends will be addressed by speakers including author Peter Sheahan, The Nielsen Co.’s Steve Matthesen, and founder and CEO of The Cambridge Group Rick Kash. Tomorrow’s top speakers are University of Toronto economics professor Dr. David Foot, and the Today show’s Joy Bauer. Thursday, New York Times journalist Nick Bilton will address visitors. Scanners will be available at the Showcase for buyers to use on items they would like details about, and NCA staff will be on hand to assist. The Magic of Merchandising Display area will feature the latest in product merchandisers, including the newest permanent and temporary floor display options, shelving units, bulk bins and more. The winning products and displays will be announced tomorrow morning at 9:50 a.m. during the General Session, and winning companies will receive their awards. After the morning announcement, winners of the gift cards will be notified through the SWEETS & SNACKS EXPO Twitter account, SWEETSandSNACKS, on the screens at the Connection Café, and through the EXPO Mobile App available for download on smartphones at sweetsandsnacks.com.
