EXPO AT A GLANCE As As the largest candy and snack trade show in the Americas, the SWEETS & SNACKS EXPO encompasses nearly 10 football fields worth of products and boasts more exhibitors than ever before. 480+ exhibitors will showcase their candy, snack, cracker, cookie and biscuit items in three days of non-stop business. From gourmet chocolate creations to internationally inspired flavors and super-sour and fruit-filled sensations, the EXPO is the place to find the latest and greatest items along with traditional favorites. Enhancing your EXPO experience, more than 130 of the 480-plus suppliers are first-time exhibitors at McCormick Place this year. “At a time when trade shows in many other industries have declined, the SWEETS & SNACKS EXPO has grown even more valuable,” says NCA President Larry Graham. “Our new show name better reflects the wide variety of snack products featured at the EXPO and has gone a long way tomake the show more attractive to all attendees.” Among themajor trends on display are dark chocolate editions of popular milk chocolate bars, gourmet crackers and cookies, mini candy pieces in reclosable pouches, cocktail-inspired flavors, extreme sour formulations, soft-eating licorice, exotic fruit flavor combinations, all-natural candy, novel lollipops and mints. Kicking off the three-day show, trend experts examine items that answer consumer demand during the Newest Products— Hottest Trends! session in the Skyline Ballroom. See page 9 for more details. CST Vote Now For Top Products, Displays As EXPO organizer, the NCA is hosting its first annual Buyers’Choice:BestNew Concept Awards, with winning items selected from the hundreds exhibited in the New Product Showcase and The Magic of Merchandising Display area. Buyers who vote for their favorite new products and displays are entered in a drawing to win one of five $100 gift certificates. Voters can select up to five products in the Showcase and three in the Merchandising Display area. Ballots must be cast before 2 p.m. today. Opening every day at 9 a.m., the New Product Showcase is located at the left entrance to the EXPO and offers a glimpse of the latest confectionery and snack product innovations.
